About the Role
As a Senior Associate in our Advisory practice based in Shanghai, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality advisory services to multinational clients operating across Asia-Pacific. You will work closely with Partners and Directors to manage engagements from inception to completion, providing strategic guidance on tax structuring, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
This position offers significant client exposure and the opportunity to develop deep expertise in cross-border advisory while contributing to the growth of our Shanghai practice. You will be expected to lead work streams, mentor junior team members, and contribute to business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Delivery
Lead and manage advisory engagements for multinational clients, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines. Coordinate with cross-functional teams across offices.
Provide strategic tax planning, compliance reviews, and regulatory advisory to clients navigating China’s complex business environment, including transfer pricing and cross-border tax issues.
Advise clients on corporate governance best practices, statutory compliance, and board-level reporting requirements. Ensure alignment with both local and international standards.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with key client contacts. Serve as the day-to-day point of contact and proactively identify opportunities to expand service offerings.
Mentor and coach junior associates and analysts. Foster a culture of continuous learning and contribute to internal training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Contribute to proposal development, pitch preparation, and market research. Support Partners in identifying and pursuing new client opportunities in the Shanghai market and broader region.
Qualifications & Experience
Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or related field

5–7 years of professional advisory experience, ideally in a Big 4 or top-tier firm

Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent)

Fluent Mandarin and strong English communication skills

Deep understanding of China tax regulations and compliance frameworks

Proven track record of managing client engagements independently
Preferred
- Master’s degree or MBA with an Asia-focused curriculum
- Cross-border M&A or transaction advisory experience
- Experience with free trade zone regulations and incentives
- Japanese or Korean language proficiency
- Familiarity with digital compliance tools and ERP systems
